ROLE SUMMARY:

This is a high-impact first-line role at the centre of LSEG's Technology and Cyber control improvement agenda. You will own and evolve the central governance and challenge capability for Self-Identified Issues (SIIs), Internal Audit and External Audit findings, and the associated remediation actions across Engineering and Cyber Security.

The successful candidate will help move the function beyond status tracking, using professional scepticism, root-cause analysis and portfolio insight to ensure weaknesses are clearly articulated, remediation is sustainable and items close only when the evidence demonstrates the intended outcome. The role offers direct exposure to senior Technology and Cyber leaders, auditors and risk governance forums, with the opportunity to shape a consistent enterprise approach and influence the resolution of material control weaknesses.

Working with issue and action owners, control owners, auditors, the Second Line of Defence, Business Information Security Officers and Technology Risk Officers, the role will identify repeat themes and systemic weaknesses, translate them into decision-ready insight. You will also provide day-to-day direction and quality review to supporting analysts and report to the Director, Risk Governance & Reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own first-line governance across the lifecycle of Technology and Cyber SIIs, Internal and External Audit findings and associated actions; set clear quality expectations and ensure ownership, prioritisation and blocking issues are managed effectively.
  • Review and credibly challenge issue and finding statements, ratings, impacted scope and root-cause analysis, ensuring weaknesses are clearly linked to relevant control frameworks.
  • Challenge remediation strategies and lead closure-readiness reviews, ensuring actions address underlying causes, deliver measurable and sustainable outcomes, and are supported by robust evidence and explicit residual-risk decisions.
  • Provide central first-line oversight of Internal and External Audit findings, including management responses, action-plan quality, evidence submissions, dependencies and closure, while maintaining constructive and transparent relationships with audit teams.
  • Monitor the portfolio of open, overdue, at-risk and upcoming items using clear metrics and risk-based analysis; surface blockers early and prepare decision-ready cases for relevant issue and audit governance forums.
  • Perform thematic analysis across SIIs, audit findings, incidents and control information to identify repeat findings, systemic weaknesses and opportunities for broader control or process improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships with issue and action owners, control owners, auditors, Technology Risk Officers, Business Information Security Officers, the Second Line of Defence and subject-matter experts; provide guidance and constructive challenge on what good looks like.
  • Use data analytics and approved artificial intelligence or automation capabilities to improve monitoring, evidence review, thematic insight and reporting, while retaining human judgement and accountability for material conclusions.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Significant experience in Technology or Cyber Risk, issue management, Internal Audit, External Audit, controls, remediation governance or a related role within financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end issue and audit-finding lifecycle, including root-cause analysis, corrective-action design, remediation oversight, evidence evaluation, closure validation and sustainability.
  • Good understanding of Technology and Cyber risks and controls, with sufficient technical and control literacy to challenge weaknesses and remediation across multiple domains.
  • Strong professional scepticism, analytical judgement and thematic-analysis skills, being able to distinguish symptoms from root causes, identify systemic patterns and reach clear, defensible conclusions from complex evidence.
  • Experience engaging with Internal or External Audit and/or the Second Line of Defence, with a practical understanding of audit evidence standards, regulatory expectations and effective issue closure.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills, including the confidence to challenge senior issue and control owners constructively, resolve contending views and drive accountability in a complex matrix organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate issue, audit and remediation information into concise, decision-ready insight for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a material portfolio, maintain high quality under competing deadlines and provide direction to supporting colleagues.
  • A continuous-improvement attitude and familiarity with data analytics, artificial intelligence and automation. Degree or equivalent experience; COBIT/NIST knowledge and CISA, CIA or CRISC are desirable.
