The UCCC Events Supervisor oversees the preparation and execution of assigned events at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Working closely with the assigned Event Coordinator, this position coordinates event logistics, staffing, room setups, vendors, day-of activities, and closeout. The Events Supervisor provides onsite leadership to Event Staff and helps ensure events are completed safely, smoothly, and in accordance with approved plans and facility policies.


Starting Pay: $42,751 - $58,783 depending on experience

Work Schedule:  Varies based on current events, 40 hours per week; Friday and Saturday required; Flexible schedule required to work some evenings and weekends

Job Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the assigned Event Coordinator to review event plans and prepare for venue rentals, City events, UCCC programs, and community partnerships.
  • Coordinates event logistics, including room layouts, equipment, linens, facility access, vendors, staffing, safety requirements, and other facility needs.
  • Develops and communicates floor plans, staff assignments, setup and reset schedules, room-readiness expectations, and day-of instructions.
  • Schedules, directs, and supports Event Staff during event setup, execution, teardown, and reset.
  • Serves as the primary onsite contact for clients, partners, vendors, and internal event leads, addressing questions and resolving issues within approved plans and facility policies.
  • Coordinates onsite services with caterers, audio-visual providers, security, custodial staff, bartenders, volunteers, contractors, and City departments.
  • Monitors event and public spaces to ensure they remain clean, organized, accessible, safe, and compliant with facility standards and approved plans.
  • Oversees assigned event services, including in-house audio-visual equipment, linens, bar operations, cash handling, signage, and digital displays.
  • Completes event closeout procedures, including walkthroughs, securing the facility, submitting required reports, and documenting changes, incidents, damages, and follow-up needs.
  • Participates in event review meetings and maintains current event information in shared systems to support communication and backup coverage.
  • Remains cross-trained on UCCC event types and provides coverage based on event schedules, staff leave, event complexity, and division needs.
  • Provides leadership, training, feedback, and support to Event Staff and assists with maintaining training materials, templates, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitors equipment and facility conditions, reports maintenance or repair needs, and coordinates with appropriate City teams when needed.
  • Conducts venue tours and provides basic event information when covering for an Event Coordinator or when assigned.
  • Assists other divisions with event logistics and support and performs other related duties as assigned.

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises assigned Event Staff during scheduled shifts and provides onsite direction to vendors, contractors, concessionaires, bartenders, caterers, volunteers, and other service providers as applicable.

  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended or irregular hours as required by event schedules.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred
  • Directly related work experience, or a combination of education and work experience, may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two or more years of experience in event coordination, banquet supervision, venue operations, or a similar role in a high-volume event or hospitality setting. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Spanish fluency preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Utah driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Seller and Server Certification (SIPS & TIPS).
  • Ability to learn and operate specialized equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, sweepers, auto-scrubbers, and snow blowers.

  • While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear, with frequent movement throughout the facility during event setup, execution, and teardown.
  • Physical activities may include bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, including event equipment such as tables, chairs, and supplies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed in office, event, and public environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • The position may be exposed to changing weather, noise, crowds, and varying levels of stress related to deadlines, multiple assignments, and onsite event issues.
  • The schedule includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended or irregular hours.
