JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Application Specialist I provides foundational support for enterprise applications, including SaaS, COTS, and custom systems. This role focuses on routine system administration, basic configuration, and user assistance while developing knowledge of assigned applications and business processes. The position contributes to system reliability, assists in implementing enhancements, and supports business units in leveraging technology effectively.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Acts as an application administrator for assigned enterprise applications, performing support, configuration, maintenance, and basic system administration following established procedures.
• Troubleshoots routine application issues, manages service requests and tickets, documents resolutions, and escalates complex problems as needed.
• Monitors application performance and system health; identifies issues and assists in corrective actions to maintain reliability.
• Assists in configuring and maintaining application features using established tools and standards; performs basic configuration and limited coding tasks under guidance.
• Assists in supporting system integrations and data interfaces, including basic data validation and troubleshooting.
• Develops and maintains basic reports and dashboards; performs data imports and exports and validates data accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and users to support application functionality and resolve issues.
• Provides user support and guidance on application functionality and established best practices.
• Assists business units in gathering and documenting requirements and understanding business processes.
• Supports Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities such as testing, documentation, and validation of system changes under direction.
• Assists with evaluation, testing, and deployment of application enhancements, patches, and upgrades following established procedures.
• Creates and maintains system documentation, including configurations, process flows, and user guides.
• Assists in developing and delivering user training and instructional materials.
• Coordinates with vendors and external support providers to resolve issues and support system functionality.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and assists in implementing enhancements to increase usability and performance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Acquires and apply knowledge of new applications, technologies, and processes to support customer needs.
• Acts as alternate system administrator for designated systems.
• Participate in team activities such as knowledge sharing, peer collaboration, and process improvement.
• Participates in the on-call support rotation.
• On a nontypical basis, may perform other additional duties not listed in this description that are in alignment with the scope of essential job functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Knowledge of enterprise application administration and support.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) concepts.
• Knowledge of system configuration, reporting tools, and data management concepts.
• Knowledge of integrations, data interfaces, or APIs.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and practices.
• Knowledge of IT security standards and practices.
• Skill in troubleshooting, researching, and resolving routine issues and supporting end users.
• Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the assigned work schedule.
• Ability to follow established processes and document work accurately.
• Ability to learn and understand business processes and system functionality.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
• Ability to recognize and troubleshoot issues and escalate appropriately when needed.
• Ability to gather and document basic system requirements from users.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.

Qualifying Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management, Business, or other related fields.
• 2 - 3 years of experience in software, development, or related fields.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to adapt to evolving technology and gain proficiency in new software with minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding of business processes related to supported applications and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in related fields.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with business units to support and improve business processes through technology.
• Experience with Workday, Salesforce, Laserfiche, or TeamDynamix.
• Relevant certification(s) within 12 months of hire based on team assignment. (e.g., Salesforce Administrator, Workday Certification, Microsoft SQL certification).
