Senior Medical Manager

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Senior Medical Manager (Vaccines) provides strategic medical leadership for the Vaccines portfolio in the Philippines while supporting the Category Medical Lead in advancing Medical Affairs priorities across the MISP cluster. The role is accountable for the development and execution of medical strategies, scientific engagement, evidence generation, field medical activities, and stakeholder partnerships to advance patient outcomes and public health priorities.

 

As a hybrid medical role, the Senior Medical Manager combines strategic leadership with external field engagement, serving as a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals, academic institutions, professional societies, and public health stakeholders. The role is responsible for generating actionable medical insights through scientific exchange, translating external perspectives into medical strategies, and ensuring execution of stakeholder-centric medical initiatives aligned with portfolio objectives.

 

Acting as a delegate to the designated Medical Director-equivalent where required, the Senior Medical Manager supports medical governance activities and ensures that scientific communications, educational initiatives, evidence-generation programs, and external engagements are conducted in accordance with local regulations, ethical standards, and company policies.

The role partners closely with the Category Vaccines Medical Lead to drive medical excellence, evidence-based decision making, capability development, cross-functional collaboration, and measurement of medical impact, while providing matrix leadership and, where applicable, line management responsibility for medical colleagues and project teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Medical Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

• Lead the development and execution of the Vaccines Medical Strategy in alignment with business priorities, patient needs, and public health objectives.
• Support the Category Medical Lead in driving portfolio priorities, strategic planning, and Medical Affairs objectives across the Vaccines franchise.
• Translate scientific insights and healthcare system needs into actionable medical strategies that maximize patient and organizational impact

2. External Scientific Engagement & Field Medical Leadership

• Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies for key healthcare professionals, academic institutions, professional societies, government stakeholders, and public health organizations.
• Serve as a trusted scientific partner through high-quality medical-to-medical engagement, scientific exchange, and evidence-based communication.
• Capture, synthesize, and translate external insights into strategic recommendations that inform medical, patient, and business priorities.

3. Medical Governance & Scientific Excellence

• Support the designated Medical Director-equivalent in maintaining medical governance standards and ensuring that medical activities are conducted in accordance with local regulations, ethical standards, and company policies.
• Provide scientific oversight for medical communications, educational initiatives, evidence dissemination, and external engagement activities.
• Contribute to portfolio risk management, product stewardship, and compliance initiatives

4. Evidence Generation & Research Leadership

• Lead the development and execution of evidence-generation strategies, including investigator-sponsored research, real-world evidence initiatives, collaborative research, and scientific publications.
• Provide scientific oversight and strategic input into regional and local research activities to address evidence gaps and support clinical decision-making.
• Ensure research activities adhere to applicable regulatory, compliance, and quality standards.

5. Medical Education & Capability Building

• Enhance scientific capability across Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams through the development and delivery of medical education and training initiatives.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, scientific excellence, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for colleagues within the Medical Affairs function.

6. Cross-Functional Leadership & Organizational Impact

• Lead cross-functional collaboration across Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, and other relevant functions to ensure aligned execution of portfolio priorities.
• Influence decision-making through scientific expertise, medical insights, and strategic recommendations.
• Drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within Medical Affairs initiatives.

7. People Leadership & Talent Development

• Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to medical colleagues and project teams.
• Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive team environment.

 

8. Regional & Enterprise Initiatives

• Represent the Vaccines Medical team in regional and enterprise projects, workstreams, and capability-building initiatives across MISP and Emerging Markets.
• Lead or contribute to strategic assignments that strengthen Medical Affairs impact, organizational effectiveness, and innovation

Qualifications:

·       Doctor of Medicine duly registered with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC )

·       Completion of a residency training program in a reputable medical institution or faculty appointment in a recognized medical school.

·       Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine or commitment to obtain certification within the timelines required by local regulations.

·       Minimum 5 years of Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated progression in strategic medical roles.

·       Strong scientific expertise in Vaccines and a demonstrated ability to translate clinical evidence into medical strategy and stakeholder engagement plans.

·       Experience in external scientific engagement, evidence generation, advisory boards, medical education, and insight generation.

·       Broad understanding of the Philippine healthcare ecosystem, regulatory environment, reimbursement landscape, and market dynamics

·       Knowledge of clinical research, GCP, pharmacovigilance, evidence generation, and clinical development processes.

·       Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional teams and influence strategic decisions across Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, Safety, and other key functions.

·       Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging healthcare professionals, scientific societies, academic institutions, government agencies, and public health stakeholders.

·       Excellent communication, presentation, people leadership, and collaboration skills.

·       Demonstrated commitment to scientific integrity, ethical conduct, compliance, and patient-focused decision making.

·       Track record of scientific publications, congress presentations, research activities, or evidence-generation initiatives preferred.
