About the role
The Youth Volleyball Instructor leads volleyball instruction and skill development programs for youth participants. The instructor will teach volleyball fundamentals, facilitate practices and drills, monitor participant progress, and foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, organized, and passionate about youth athletics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and lead volleyball instruction for youth participants of varying ages and skill levels.
- Teach and demonstrate volleyball fundamentals, including: serving, passing, setting. hitting. blocking, and court positioning and game strategies
- Develop and implement age-appropriate drills, practices, and skill-building activities.
- Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to support player development.
- Maintain order, organization, and appropriate discipline during practices, clinics, camps, and games.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and program staff regarding schedules, expectations, and participant progress.
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and maintenance of volleyball equipment and program spaces.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED.
- Previous experience coaching, teaching, or instructing youth volleyball players in a recreational, school, club, or competitive environment.
- Child/Infant CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to teach volleyball fundamentals and player development techniques.
- Experience working with children and adolescents of diverse ages, abilities, and learning styles.
- Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
- Ability to manage groups effectively while maintaining safety, organization, and participant engagement.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as program schedules require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework, certification, or degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation, or a related field.
- Additional coaching certifications or volleyball-specific training.
- Experience working in youth recreation, camps, clinics, club sports, or community-based programs.
