JOB SUMMARY
The PMO for the Transportation Procurement Category plays a central coordination and governance role across all transportation procurement sub-categories, including road freight (trucks), rail transport, container shipping, and bulk cargo shipping. The role ensures alignment of procurement initiatives, drives project execution, supports category strategy implementation, and provides visibility of performance, risks, savings, and supplier initiatives across the transportation procurement organization.
The PMO acts as the connective link between category managers, regional procurement teams, Finance, and where needed key suppliers to ensure transportation procurement projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
This role serves as the operational backbone of the Transportation Category Purchasing organization, ensuring that strategic sourcing initiatives across trucks, rail, container shipping, and bulk cargo shipping are coordinated, governed, measured, and successfully implemented to deliver sustainable business value on a global scale.
JOB SCOPE
PMO for Transportation Procurement Category responds to around 10 M€ P&L savings in initiatives loaded in Quimeo around all Categories (Local/Regional/Global levels); The role monitors and coordinates a global spend of around 550 M €
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project & Program Management
Coordinate and manage transportation procurement projects across all transportation sub-categories.
Develop and maintain the category project portfolio, roadmap, and implementation plans.
Monitor project progress, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
Facilitate cross-functional project teams and stakeholder alignment.
Governance & Performance Management
Establish and maintain category governance processes and reporting structures.
Organize regular category reviews and project status meetings.
Track procurement KPIs, savings realization, supplier performance, and project benefits.
Ensure consistency in project management methodologies across transportation categories.
Take a lead in preparation and completion of QBR’s and Step meetings with BA’s
Strategic Initiative Support
Support the execution of transportation category strategies and sourcing programs.
Drive implementation of strategic procurement initiatives such as:
Carrier consolidation
Sustainability programs
Digitalization initiatives
Risk management programs
Supplier development initiatives
Data, Analytics & Tools
Consolidate transportation spend, market intelligence, and performance data.
Develop dashboards and reports for procurement leadership.
Support business case development and financial tracking of procurement initiatives.
Analyze trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction and service improvements.
Become a super user of the Procurement tool Ivalue and coordinator of Ivalue deployment and issues management
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary coordination point between:

Ensure effective communication and alignment across global and regional stakeholders.
Facilitate and prepare in cooperation with the RCM a Key Account Management structure for all Categories

Standardize procurement processes, templates, and best practices.
Lead lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote knowledge sharing across transportation categories.
Support digital procurement tools and system implementations.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience
5–10 years of experience in procurement, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or project management.
Experience managing cross-functional and international projects.
Exposure to transportation sourcing and logistics operations is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Strong project management capabilities.
Advanced Excel and Power BI skills.
Experience with procurement and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba, etc.).
Genuine interest to drive and promote AI supported initiatives
Data analysis and dashboard development.
Understanding of transportation markets and logistics networks.
