Senior Systems Operations Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer to support critical applications and associated enterprise platforms. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, stability, and performance of production systems through proactive monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a self-driven team player who thrives in a fast-paced production support environment, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and is committed to delivering seamless banking services at scale

In this role, you will:

• Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area

• Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks

• Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

• Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution

• Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards

• Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education​

Desired Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in Production Support / Systems Operations providing monitoring tools support for applications built on JAVA or .NET and cloud platforms.

• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database troubleshooting (Oracle/MongoDB/SQL Server)

• Advanced scripting experience with Windows, Unix/Linux commands and scripting,

• Hands‑on experience supporting enterprise application platforms in the areas of monitoring, scheduling, or observability (e.g., Autosys, App Dynamics, Grafana, Splunk, Thousand Eyes, or equivalent)

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git)

• Scripting & Automated Testing, Continuous Integration and deployment (Jenkins)

• Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure/GCP (EC2, S3, Lambda, Azure Monitor, etc.)

• Experience in SRE concepts (SLAs, SLOs, error budgets)

• Strong automation using Python / Shell scripting / PowerShell/Ansible

• Familiarity with RCA methodologies 

• Experience with vulnerability monitoring / patching processes

• Experience in incident, problem, and change management processes

• Strong troubleshooting skills with focus on application, batch and infrastructure issues

• Proven ability to triage complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive issues to closure

• AI mind set, experience leveraging AI‑assisted tools for Production support, optimization, and operational efficiency

• Flexible to work in rotational shifts - 16/7, weekends, holidays and on-call support

• Effective communication skills to work across global teams

• Ability to operate independently with a strong ownership and accountability mindset.
