This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished commercial leader to join our Operational Excellence team as Head of Procurement. 

At BNZ, Procurement is evolving into a strategic partner that helps shape business outcomes, unlock value and enable sustainable success. As Head of Procurement, you'll play a key role in leading that evolution through driving commercial excellence, influencing enterprise-wide decisions and delivering meaningful outcomes across the bank.

What are some of the day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete? 

• Shape and execute BNZ's procurement and sourcing strategy, providing commercial leadership and market insight that informs enterprise decision-making while delivering a strong pipeline of value-creating opportunities. 
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Procurement leaders, creating a high-performing culture focused on collaboration, growth and excellence. 
• Champion Procurement's ongoing transformation into a trusted strategic advisor that delivers value beyond cost and compliance. 
• Partner with BNZ's senior business and technology leaders to influence commercial decisions and maximise value from some of the bank's most significant supplier relationships. 
• Lead strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations and contracting activities to drive value, manage risk and optimise outcomes.

Success in this role requires balancing commercial outcomes, stakeholder expectations, and risk requirements in a complex environment. You'll lead through change, helping stakeholders and your team navigate ambiguity while continuing to deliver value and influence strategic outcomes.

You will bring strong commercial acumen and deep Technology Procurement expertise, with a proven ability to lead strategic sourcing activities, negotiate complex commercial arrangements, and build trusted executive stakeholder relationships. You are an experienced people leader who develops capability, builds high-performing teams, and creates an environment where people can thrive. You combine sound judgement with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, enabling you to navigate complexity, influence outcomes, and drive positive change across the function.
