YOUR DAY AS A CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
As Chief Investment Officer, you will lead the development and execution of strategies that support Montgomery County's climate and community objectives. Each day, you will oversee transaction origination, structuring, approval, and closing, while guiding product development and related partnerships. You will build scalable financing programs, expand private capital participation, and develop innovative vehicles. Your collaborative work with the CEO, Board, and other leaders will drive strategic growth and help position Montgomery County Green Bank as a national leader in climate finance. You will mentor a high-performing team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and maintain relationships with a diverse network of partners.
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER SCHEDULE
You will work full-time in a flexible hybrid environment, with shifts that vary but always fall within standard business hours. You'll enjoy the balance of collaborative in-office leadership and remote productivity as you guide our investment platform to new heights.
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, public policy, commercial real estate, or a related field
- 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in commercial banking, structured finance, project finance, impact investing, community development finance, real estate finance, climate finance, or related fields
- 7+ years of management experience leading investment professionals and multidisciplinary teams, including creation and implementation of new financial products
- Experience originating, structuring, underwriting, and closing complex financing transactions
- Strong financial modeling and credit analysis capabilities
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships across public, private, and nonprofit sectors
Preferred:
- MBA, MPA, JD, CFA, or other advanced professional degree
- Experience working with green banks, CDFIs, community development organizations, impact investment funds, infrastructure investors, or public finance institutions
- Experience raising institutional capital or managing investment funds
- Familiarity with climate resilience finance, energy transition finance, infrastructure finance, or sustainable investing
- Experience serving before investment committees, boards of directors, or public bodies
- Strategic thinking, commercial judgment, and entrepreneurial leadership
- Integrity, collaboration, and commitment to public purpose
- Preference for residency or meaningful ties to Montgomery County, MD
