What You’ll Do
As our new Accounting Technician, you will:
- Perform routine accounting support tasks in accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipting, and general ledger maintenance.
- Post, balance, reconcile, and maintain financial records; prepare journal entries and resolve discrepancies.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, reimbursement requests, and payment documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor account balances, verify fund availability, and classify expenditures appropriately.
- Collect, process, and reconcile payments; monitor and ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures.
- Track and monitor related budgets, including general fund and grant-funded accounts; process budget adjustments.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and provide required documentation.
What We’re Looking For
Someone who:
- Is knowledgeable in accounting methods for validating transactions, resolving discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
- Has experience in report preparation, data research, and financial/statistical calculations.
- Has ability to input, research, and reconcile financial data using computer systems and databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by college level coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience in processing financial transactions or performing related work.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standing office equipment, including a computer.
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 25 pounds.
