Description
Experience in consumer packaged goods is valuable, but deep research expertise, intellectual curiosity and the ability to influence decisions are essential. BA/BS in a related field (Business, Marketing, Economics, Psychology, Sociology) or equivalent experience MBA in Marketing or Marketing Research a plus. 3-8 years of hands-on shopper, consumer or market research experience, with demonstrated ownership of research from business question through recommendation required. Experience on the client or manufacturer side is preferred but not required. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to design, manage, analyze and communicate primary research tied to specific business decisions. Candidates should bring experience across quantitative and qualitative methods—such as mobile surveys, virtual shopping and shelf testing, optimization or conjoint and other discrete-choice approaches, path-to-purchase research, ethnography, positioning, segmentation, packaging and consumer tracking—and the judgment to select the right method rather than default to a familiar one. Curious, resourceful and comfortable bringing structure to ambiguous questions; able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining rigor and attention to detail. Experience using syndicated, panel or behavioral data to answer business questions and integrate findings with primary research is preferred. Familiarity with sources such as Circana, Nielsen, Numerator, CREST, Technomic, CRC or Kantar is a plus. Experience using analytical and visualization tools to explore data and communicate findings is preferred. Familiarity with tools such as SPSS, SAS, DisplayR, MarketSight/Dynata or Power BI is a plus. Experience in consumer packaged goods is a plus, but not required. Candidates with strong research foundations and demonstrated ability to learn new industries, categories or business models are encouraged to apply. Champion shopper insight as a critical input to strategy and execution, partnering with sales, category management, channel strategy, commercialization, revenue growth management and shopper marketing to identify growth opportunities and improve decisions. Serve as a research consultant to key partners: clarify the business decision, translate it into focused learning objectives, and recommend and design the research or analytical approach most likely to produce actionable insight. Represent the voice of the shopper with credibility and influence, challenging assumptions and helping internal teams, retail partners and foodservice customers consider the shopper implications of strategic and executional decisions. Own a varied portfolio of strategic learning—from cross-functional consultation and project management through custom primary research, secondary research, and analysis of custom and syndicated data. Socialize findings across categories and channels so learning travels beyond a single project and creates broader value for the business.
