This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
In vitro ADME associate in translational DMPK-PD, Drug Disposition and Bioanalysis (DDB), PS, pRED (permanent position in Basel)
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed. This position is located in the translational Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics-Pharmacodynamics (tDMPK-PD) department within the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) function, where the fate of new chemical entities and biologics is a primary focus. The sections work throughout all stages of compound development, from lead optimization to candidate selection, all clinical development phases to filing of new drug applications. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
Job mission
The in vitro ADME Associate will focus on assessing the in vitro metabolic stability of low turnover compounds across various modalities to enable accurate clearance (CL) predictions. This role involves the hands-on execution of enzyme reaction phenotyping and the implementation of advanced cellular models, such as long-term co-cultured hepatocytes, to support both early drug discovery and late-stage development pipelines.
The Opportunity
- Perform hands-on in vitro experiments to evaluate metabolic stability, with a specialized focus on low turnover compounds, to guide accurate human clearance (CL) predictions.
- Implement, validate, and utilize cutting-edge cellular tools, including long-term co-cultured hepatocytes and other novel in vitro cellular models.
- Independently execute enzyme reaction phenotyping assays to support project progression from early discovery through regulatory submission stages.
- Ensure rigorous documentation of experimental setups, protocols, and results to facilitate transparent, data-driven decision-making within the team.
- Maintain laboratory infrastructure and actively collaborate with internal scientific experts to drive the implementation of novel in vitro ADME technologies.
Who you are
- You hold a university degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s) in (bio)chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacy, or a related discipline, with hands-on practical experience (preferably industrial) in the area of drug metabolism, enzymology, and in vitro ADME methodologies over 3-5 years at least.
- You possess strong practical expertise in running in vitro assays (such as cellular/hepatocyte cultures, enzyme incubations) alongside strong capabilities in troubleshooting and resolving experimental challenges.
- You are familiar with common digital tools for experimental planning, execution, fair data capturing, evaluation, and reporting.
- Preferably, you have gained hands-on experience with analytical methodologies such as quantitative LC-mass spectrometry to support your in vitro work.
- You have strong communication skills, are committed to working collaboratively in a team, and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision to solve problems in an innovative and proactive way.
Application Process
- Please upload your CV (in English) and a motivation letter with your application.
Additional Information
- The preferred start date is February 2027, or upon discussion.
