Description
- Operates vibrator tamper in the compaction of fill dirt, lime- rock and asphalt; operates jackhammer and air compressor; operates dump truck in the hauling of fill dirt, lime rock, and asphalt; operates bucket truck; operates core drill; operates paint stripper, asphalt truck.
- Cleans gutters, culverts, and other drainage structures; sweeps streets, gutters, and sidewalks by hand; shovels gravel and dirt.
- Loads and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, concrete, timber, and heavy mechanical equipment.
- Repair and maintain streets and sidewalks using concrete and/or asphalt by shoveling mix from truck, placing in hole and tamping. Operates the hot mix asphalt patch truck in patching of potholes and utility cuts.
- Performs a variety of other heavy manual work in connection with the maintenance and construction of streets, alleys, and roads.
- Digs post holes and sets posts.
- Cleans street signs; assists in street sign manufacturing and installation.
- Replaces bulbs in traffic lights.
- Drives truck to and from job and works as a trainee on automotive equipment and machinery.
- Subject to overtime work and responds to job-related emergencies as required.
- Performs general janitorial work.
- Performs other related work as necessary.
High school diploma required; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; a minimum of one (1) year experience as experience in operation of heavy equipment, preferably with road maintenance experience. Willingness to perform routine manual work; ability to lift heavy articles; stamina; excellent physical condition.
Driver's License Requirement: Valid Florida Driver's License Classification B .
