What you'll be doing

The Research Chapter enables high-quality, evidence-based decision-making across CIBC by equipping researchers with the processes, tools, standards, and governance they need to deliver consistent, impactful work. As a Research Operations & AI Enablement Co-op, you'll support the team’s efforts to scale research through stronger operations, improved knowledge management, and thoughtful exploration of AI-enabled efficiencies. You’ll contribute to research process documentation, templates, repository practices, SharePoint content, intake and tracking processes, and community knowledge-sharing initiatives that help reduce administrative effort for researchers. You’ll also help evaluate emerging AI tools and opportunities that can support research planning, analysis, synthesis, reporting, and operational workflows with appropriate human oversight. Working closely with partners across the Research Chapter, you’ll document findings, support proof-of-concept activities, and help identify practical ways to improve researcher productivity and time-to-insight. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of research operations while gaining hands-on experience at the intersection of user research, operations, and responsible AI innovation.

Important information

  • We may ask you to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills tests (such as simulation, coding, French proficiency, MS Office). Our goal for the application process is to get to know more about you, all that you have to offer, and give you the opportunity to learn more about us.
  • You must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies to be eligible. However, you do not need to be in a registered co-op program to be considered for a role.
  • Please include your resume (no more than 2 pages), a cover letter (no more than 1 page), and your most recent unofficial transcript with your application. These should all be uploaded into the resume section of the application as one pdf document.
  • Duration of term: 4 months (January – April 2027)

  • AI evaluation and innovation - Support the testing and evaluation of AI-powered tools and automation opportunities for research planning, recruitment, analysis, synthesis, reporting, and agentic workflow proof-of-concept initiatives.
