Maintenance Supervisor 2nd Shift
Manufacturing Opportunity
The Opportunity
A manufacturer is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the skilled trades employees who keep its production equipment operating safely and efficiently. The supervisor will set daily priorities, coordinate repairs with production leaders and help the team prevent recurring equipment problems. This role combines practical maintenance leadership with employee development and clear communication across shifts.
What You Will Do
Plan each shift’s maintenance work, assign mechanics and electricians to the right tasks, and adjust priorities as operating needs change.
Work with production to resolve equipment interruptions, assess repair quality and restore dependable operation.
Review recurring failures, investigate their causes and organize corrective actions that reduce repeat breakdowns.
Improve equipment setup and changeover practices with input from maintenance and operations employees.
Coach skilled trades employees, assess training needs and build the team’s capability to handle equipment issues.
Apply plant safety, cleanliness and applicable good manufacturing practice requirements. Report incidents and support efforts to address hazards.
Coordinate employee schedules, time off and overtime. Handle performance matters consistently with company policies and applicable labor agreements.
Keep incoming shifts and plant leaders informed about repairs, outstanding equipment concerns and work priorities.
Partner with plant leadership on improvements to equipment performance, product quality and maintenance practices.
Coordinate with outside service providers when their support is needed.
Encourage continuous improvement, shared responsibility for equipment care and respectful working relationships.
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent and 3–5 years of relevant experience.
Ability to lead maintenance employees, organize competing work demands and make sound decisions in an active manufacturing operation.
Practical problem solving skills, including investigating equipment failures and developing measures to prevent recurrence.
Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concerns and keep colleagues informed.
Ability to motivate employees, provide constructive feedback and work effectively across departments.
Good judgment, attention to detail and consistent follow through on commitments.
Ability to supervise within a union environment and apply the relevant labor agreement to daily workforce decisions.
