The Role

As an Associate Engineer – Roads & Highways, you will provide technical leadership and project delivery expertise across transport infrastructure projects, while playing an important role in growing our Roads & Highways capability in Hobart.

With an established local office and broader multidisciplinary capability already in place, this is an opportunity to help shape the next stage of our transport business in Tasmania. You will combine technical and project leadership with client engagement, business development and the mentoring of engineers as the team continues to grow.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of road and highway design projects from concept through to completion.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Manage project scope, programme, quality and commercial outcomes.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners across Tasmania.
  • Review designs, calculations and technical deliverables.
  • Support project pursuits, proposals and business development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to grow our Roads & Highways capability in the local market.
  • Mentor, coach and develop engineers and graduates.
  • Contribute to the broader growth of our Transport business in Tasmania.

About You

You are a technically strong engineer with proven project delivery experience who is equally comfortable working with clients, developing people and helping build a growing business. You will bring an established understanding of roads and highways projects and the ability to play a visible role in developing our presence in the Tasmanian transport market.

You will bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering roads and highways projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project delivery and technical outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder and client relationship skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineers.
  • Sound commercial and project management awareness.
  • An interest in business development and growing client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
  • Chartered status, or a commitment to obtaining relevant professional registration.

Don't meet every requirement? We still encourage you to apply. We recognise that talent comes from many different experiences and backgrounds, and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture for people from all walks of life.

Why Hobart?

Hobart offers the opportunity to combine a rewarding engineering career with the lifestyle and accessibility Tasmania is known for. You will join an established local office with multidisciplinary capability already around you, while having the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the growth of our Transport business.
