Description

Library Specialist, Davies Library, Full-time

Inspire discovery. Support community at Davies Library.

Are you excited to create a welcoming library experience where families, neighbors, youth, and teens learn, connect, and thrive? Davies Library is seeking a full-time Library Specialist to become a trusted resource and familiar face in the Deer Trail community. You will help visitors of all ages access resources, technology, and programs while building meaningful relationships, fostering independence, and supporting the unique needs of a rural community.

About the Role

Davies Library serves as a vital hub for Deer Trail and the surrounding rural communities, operating as both a public library and the Deer Trail School District library. Despite its small footprint, the library has a significant community impact, welcoming a robust after-school crowd and patrons of all ages. In this role, you will build relationships, provide services, and support programs for youth, teens, adults, and older adults while helping meet the unique needs of a rural community where the library serves as an important gathering place, resource center, and connection point. You will collaborate with staff, volunteers, local partners, and the school district to provide services and experiences that reflect the community's evolving needs. Because Davies is a small branch, team members often wear multiple hats, take initiative during quieter moments, and adapt to changing community needs while maintaining a high level of service.

  • Collaborate with staff to connect patrons to specialized services

Technology Assistance

  • Assist patrons with library computers, printers, and other devices as well as e- resources and online databases
  • Provide support for basic technology troubleshooting and reservable spaces with AV equipment
  • Provide guidance and instruction in both English and Spanish, helping patrons build confidence and independence when accessing information, technology, and library services

Materials Handling and Library Environment

  • Maintain and merchandise library collections and displays
  • Process, shelve, and manage materials and holds using library systems
  • Straighten and tidy spaces to ensure a welcoming experience for patrons

Learning and Development

  • Stay current on library resources, trends, and technology to better serve patrons
  • Share patron feedback and observations to improve services
  • Collaborate with staff to meet district wide and branch goals
