The Department of Human Genetics has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Billing Specialist to work part-time hybrid in Miami.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Biller compiles amounts owed to medical facility and maintained order, invoice, and payments records.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Assists patients, insurance companies, and laboratories with inquiries regarding billing issues.
2. Reviews records for patient information, insurance information, service descriptors, diagnosis codes and managed care authorization requirements, and coordinates corrections.
3. Prints daily appointment voucher report and reconciles all vouchers to report.
4. Enters, reviews, and retrieves patient account information from system and ensures accuracy.
5. Submits completed batches to appropriate billing offices daily.
6. Follows up on claims submitted routinely to monitor payment status.
7. Transmits coded patient treatment information to payers and other recipients.
8. Coordinates insurance reimbursements with care providers.
9. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
