The Opportunity
Join a supportive and entrepreneurial underwriting team providing insurance solutions across Property, Liability, Financial Lines, and Cyber. As an Underwriting Assistant – Property, you'll support the property team across submissions, policy and claims data, natural-perils research, premium calculations, and pipeline management.
Designed as an entry-level pathway into underwriting, the role includes practical coaching in commercial insurance, property risk assessment, claims-history analysis, natural perils, and premium calculations. You'll work closely with an experienced Underwriter and the Head of Property, with the opportunity to progress into advanced underwriting support or an Underwriter role as your capability develops.

What You’ll Do
- Review broker submissions, proposal forms, schedules, risk surveys, and supporting documents, capturing accurate information for underwriting assessment.
- Set up new business and renewal accounts, maintaining accurate risk, policy, insured, and claims information in the underwriting platform.
- Research natural-perils exposures including flood, bushfire, cyclone, storm, and earthquake using approved third-party systems.
- Maintain the underwriting pipeline, tracking submissions, renewals, outstanding information, due dates, and next actions.
- Collate and summarise claims histories, identifying gaps or discrepancies for Underwriter review.
- Prepare premium calculations for mid-term adjustments, additional and return premiums, earned premiums, and cancellations for authorised Underwriter approval.
- Liaise with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders while supporting correspondence, recommendations, and monthly renewal portfolio reporting.
- Partner with the underwriting team on process improvements, including opportunities to use technology to improve efficiency.
- Build your technical knowledge through coaching, training, team meetings, and exposure to the broader insurance business.
Key Criteria
- Strong data-entry skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Sound Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with structured data.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Clear written and spoken English with a professional and collaborative communication style.
- Curious and motivated to build knowledge of Australian property insurance and underwriting.
- Previous experience in insurance, underwriting support, broking, claims, finance, or a similar administrative role is advantageous.
- Exposure to commercial property insurance, policy transactions, or risk-information and natural-perils platforms is highly regarded.
- Relevant qualifications in insurance, business, finance, or administration are advantageous.
- Reliable, accountable, and comfortable asking questions, applying feedback, and working within defined processes and authority limits.
Work setup:
Work setup & hours may vary by location in accordance with local norms, practices & policies.

- Manila (BGC, Taguig): Australian hours (6 am–3 pm PHT) with a hybrid setup (1-2 days WFH) after a 6-month onsite probation.
