Caterpillar’s BCP division is hiring for Control Systems Engineer in Clayton, NC!

Role Summary: In this role you will develop, enhance, and validate electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices to optimize products and systems as part of the Backhoe Loaders Integration Team.  The Integration Team is responsible for defining and developing electronic control systems, displays, and the overall feel and operation of the Backhoe Loaders.  We support new product development as well as improving and modifying existing products to meet customer expectations.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)

• Designing advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
• Designing and implementing software and procedures to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices performance in collaboration with scientists.
• Designing and prototyping mechatronic devices with motors, solenoids, gears, sensors, and springs.
• Identifying and addressing areas of product weakness in finished products.
• Validating software controls, display functions, and various features on BHL machines.
• Operating and becoming proficient with a variety of BHL models and configurations
• Troubleshooting, determining root case, and providing solutions to electrical, software, and mechanical issue
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

• Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.  We collaborate with a global team so conciseness is important.

• Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.  Our team is on the front line of solving machine and customer issues.

• Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.  Our team provides development direction to various system teams, so we need to understand the root cause of all issues.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

• Experience with machine testing, controls calibration, validation, and data analysis
• Ability to facilitate highly collaborative worldwide teams in multiple organizations and functions to drive results and resolve complex issues
• Test engineering experience and machine operation of construction equipment
• Experience developing machine, vehicle, automation, robotics, agricultural, mining or automotive control systems

• Work location: Clayton, NC

• Travel: up to 10% domestic and international
• This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

 

 

 

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
