About the role:
The Assistant Director of Engineering reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for project management and property maintenance. This role supports the Director in managing a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
What you will do:
1. The ability to manage the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, disciplining and planning of activities of engineering department personnel and participate in the employee performance reviews process.
2. The ability to develop long term and short term projects and prioritize accordingly.
3. The ability to vet vendors and pricing for supplies and equipment.
4. The ability to manage contractors on property and ensure results and proper conduct.
5. The ability to manage effective preventive maintenance schedules.
6. The ability plan and implement procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient maintenance department.
7. The ability to handle the purchasing of equipment replacement parts and repairs. This includes contacting vendors for best prices, writing purchase orders, receiving goods and completing projects.
What you bring:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering. The candidate should possess an engineering qualified certification, primarily in Building Management Systems, automation or controls
- Minimum of five years of technical experience or two years of prior experience in a position of similar responsibility.
- Trade school in mechanics, refrigeration, etc. required.
- Strong electrical knowledge of medium voltage, MEP infrastructure, and building compliance codes.
- Knowledge of blue prints, wiring diagrams and hydraulics.
- Technical knowledge and experience to manage a team of specialists in the areas of plumbing, refrigeration, heating cooling, painting, carpentry, structural requirements and local codes, recycling, electrical, industrial equipment and landscaping.
- Previous experience in a luxury resort preferred.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.

Schedule & Hours:
Successful candidate will be hired as a full-time employee. Successful candidate must be flexible as may be required to work early mornings, days, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
