About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for Category Specialist. This role will be based in 6750 Building, Makati City, Philippines.
This position is part of Chevron's Global Business Services (GBS) Source to Contract (S2C) organization and is responsible for leading end-to-end contracting activities across the contract lifecycle, from strategy development and sourcing through contract execution and post-award management. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, category managers, and contracting teams to develop and execute contracting strategies that support business objectives and optimize value.
The position serves as a subject matter expert in pre-award contracting and post-award contract management, providing guidance on contracting risk, commercial terms, negotiations, compensation models, supplier due diligence, and contract administration. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, developing and reviewing scopes of work, managing supplier communications, supporting sourcing events, administering contracts, and driving documented savings through effective commercial negotiations.
Success in this role requires strong analytical and strategic thinking, excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, deep contracting expertise, proficiency in digital procurement platforms (e.g., Smart by GEP, Ariba, SAP), and the ability to mentor less experienced contracting professionals while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related field.
minimum 6 years of experience in sourcing, contracting, commercial negotiations, RFX management, and post-award contract management (or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
Proven ability to lead supplier negotiations and perform commercial and technical analyses to achieve optimal business outcomes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Smart by GEP/Ariba and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Oil & Gas, manufacturing, or similar industries.
Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse, cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity.
Expertise in contracting for engineering, professional, logistics, marketing, maintenance, and operational services.
Critical Selection Criteria:
Contract formulation, administration, and negotiation experience: Demonstrated experience in pre and post award contracting processes. Fluency with Legal Terms & Conditions, stakeholder engagement, and commercial negotiations. Demonstrated ability to collaborate in the development of contracting strategies across near and long-term milestone time horizons. Effective with contracting issue resolution by coordinating joint efforts between legal, suppliers and affected business partners.
People Skill and Teamwork: Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment to build consensus and negotiate win-win solutions with suppliers. Good organizational skills.
Business acumen and critical thinking: Ability to use business knowledge and critical thinking skills to work with ambiguity and make effective business decisions.
P/SCM systems and tools knowledge: Proficient in Smart by GEP/Ariba to manage contracts and perform sourcing activities. Able to perform contract analysis (spend analysis, price benchmarking, etc.) using MS Excel. Proficient in using MS Office to effectively track T&Cs changes/agreements. Use MS Powerpoint to build decision support packages. Open to adapt to and learn new systems and tools.
