Quality Coordinator – Deeside, UK
Salamander Solutions Ltd is a global manufacturer of heater cable systems for the oil industry and is seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Coordinator to join our Deeside team in North Wales, UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, customer specifications, and company standards. This role will coordinate quality system activities, document control, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation. The Quality Coordinator will work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Management teams to promote a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
This position requires on-site presence.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain ISO 9001 certification and compliance.
- Coordinate internal quality audits and support external audits conducted by customers, certification bodies, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage non-conformances, corrective actions, preventive actions, and root cause investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain document control processes, ensuring procedures, work instructions, specifications, forms, and records remain current and compliant.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and assist in the development of initiatives to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Support inspection, testing, and quality verification activities throughout the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to identify and implement quality improvements.
- Coordinate employee training related to quality procedures, standards, and QMS requirements.
- Assist with customer quality requirements, quality documentation requests, and audit preparation activities.
- Maintain accurate quality records and reports in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the application of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and quality best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality systems, or quality control role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and audit activities.
- Experience managing quality documentation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspections, and quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality-related recordkeeping systems.
- Experience using root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, quality management principles, and document control systems.
- Experience conducting or supporting internal and external audits, including management of audit findings and corrective actions.
- Understanding of manufacturing quality systems, process controls, inspection techniques, and non-conformance management.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed records.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and report preparation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
- Professional certifications such as Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor, CQI/IRCA, or Six Sigma are preferred.
- Experience within metal manufacturing, specialty cable manufacturing, precision products, or industrial manufacturing environments is preferred.
