We are seeking a Principal, Account Development professinal to lead the growth and development of several of our most strategic, high-touch partners.
This role will own a portfolio of complex enterprise relationships—including partners such as Synchrony and National Veterinary Associates (NVA)—with responsibility for maximizing the value of existing partnerships while identifying and executing new opportunities for growth.
This is a highly cross-functional, commercially oriented role. The ideal candidate will operate as a strategic business leader for each partner, developing joint growth strategies, expanding product and distribution opportunities, strengthening executive relationships, and coordinating teams across sales, product, marketing, operations, underwriting, technology, and finance.
The role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of partnership strategy, account management, business development, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Own Strategic Partner Growth
Serve as the senior day-to-day relationship owner for a portfolio of high-value, high-touch strategic partners.
Develop and maintain comprehensive account plans with clear growth objectives, priorities, milestones, and financial targets.
Identify opportunities to increase revenue, policy/customer penetration, product adoption, and partner engagement.
Understand each partner’s business model, strategic priorities, customer base, economics, and competitive landscape to identify mutually beneficial opportunities.
Develop multi-year growth strategies and translate them into actionable annual and quarterly plans.
Expand Existing Partnerships
Identify and pursue opportunities to expand into new products, channels, customer segments, locations, and distribution models.
Develop business cases and partnership proposals for new opportunities.
Lead negotiations and commercial discussions in partnership with senior leadership and relevant internal teams.
Turn successful pilots and initiatives into scalable programs.
Continuously look for ways to increase the strategic value of the relationship.
Executive Relationship Management
Build trusted relationships with senior executives and key decision-makers at strategic partners.
Establish regular executive business reviews and joint strategic planning sessions.
Represent the company with credibility and a strong understanding of the partner’s business.
Proactively identify and resolve relationship risks, escalations, and competing priorities.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as the internal quarterback for strategic partner initiatives.
Coordinate closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Technology, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and other teams to deliver against partner commitments.
Establish clear ownership, timelines, and accountability across complex initiatives.
Remove obstacles and drive execution when initiatives span multiple functions.
Ensure partner feedback and market insights are translated into actionable internal priorities.
Performance & Business Management
Own partner performance against agreed-upon KPIs and financial objectives.
Develop reporting and dashboards to monitor growth, profitability, customer acquisition, retention, product penetration, and other relevant metrics.
Analyze performance trends and develop recommendations to improve results.
Prepare executive-level updates and recommendations for internal leadership and partner stakeholders.
Manage pipeline and prioritize opportunities based on strategic value, economics, feasibility, and time to market.
What We’re Looking For
12+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, account management, business development, sales, consulting, or a related commercial function.
Demonstrated success managing and growing large, complex enterprise relationships.
Strong commercial orientation with the ability to identify opportunities and translate them into measurable business results.
Experience working across highly matrixed organizations and leading initiatives without direct authority.
Exceptional executive communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and financial acumen; comfortable building business cases and understanding partner economics.
Ability to move seamlessly between big-picture strategy and detailed execution.
Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
Experience in financial services, insurance, retail, healthcare, payments, or other complex consumer businesses is strongly preferred.
