Senior Underwriter

Job Summary

Seeking a highly experienced Senior Underwriter to assess and evaluate risks, establish coverage terms, and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations. This role focuses on managing complex and high-value cases, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to organizational growth and success.

Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite complex insurance policies in alignment with company guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Analyze risk data to determine terms, coverage limits, and premiums.
• Collaborate with brokers, sales teams, and other stakeholders to address inquiries and negotiate terms.
• Review, evaluate, and approve or deny applications based on underwriting criteria.
• Mentor junior underwriters by providing training, guidance, and support.
• Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to adjust risk strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships.
• Prepare detailed underwriting reports and documentation suitable for audits.
• Contribute to the refinement and execution of underwriting policies, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure all underwriting practices adhere to legal and organizational requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Insurance, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AINS) preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in underwriting, with 2+ years in a senior or leadership role preferred.
• Skills:
  • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient communication and negotiation capabilities.
  • Competence in underwriting software and tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of state and federal insurance regulations.
