About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading organisation within the Global Business Solutions industry, is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join their Client Services team in Durban.
The successful candidate will support client payroll functions, ensuring that employee information and payroll transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and within required deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll updates for an assigned client portfolio according to payroll cycles and client requirements
- Maintain accurate employee records, including salary changes, tax elections and deductions
- Process employee terminations and final payments in accordance with applicable regulations
- Update employee statuses and communicate relevant changes to internal departments
- Import and audit time and attendance files for payroll processing
- Process manual payroll transactions where required
- Conduct payroll reviews and post payroll transactions
- Generate payroll and operational reports
- Upload and maintain employee documentation
- Keep daily status reports up to date
- Ensure payroll data is accurately captured and verified
- Respond to payroll-related queries and assist with problem resolution
- Follow client-specific processes, procedures and instructions
- Maintain professional working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Escalate payroll, system or operational issues to the relevant supervisor
- Ensure compliance with company policies, data protection requirements and quality standards
- Participate in training and continuous learning initiatives
- Perform other payroll-related duties as required
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field is advantageous
- 1–3 years' payroll experience preferred
- Fresh graduates with a relevant qualification are encouraged to apply
- Previous experience in payroll, data entry, customer service or a similar environment will be advantageous
- A payroll qualification or certification is beneficial
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to learn new systems and client-specific software quickly
- Strong reading and comprehension skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and processes
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Professional, reliable and adaptable approach
