Overview:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Job Captain to join our team. The Engineering Job Captain will play a key role in the design and execution of various engineering projects, working closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering professionals to ensure successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, excellent technical skills, and a passion for innovation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers and design teams to develop engineering solutions that meet project deadlines and client requirements.
- Review, redline and quality check detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD, Revit, Forte and other design software.
- Conduct site visits and surveys to gather information and assess project conditions, as required.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Review and evaluate project documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and codes.
- Provide technical guidance, training and support to designer & drafter staff members.
- Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to discuss project progress and resolve technical issues.
- Stay current with advancements in engineering technology, codes, and regulations.
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Requirements
Education, Experience and Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field a plus, but equivalent and relevant job experience can be substituted.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design and project management.
- Proficiency in CAD, Revit, and other engineering design software.
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to lead and manage teams by balancing work distribution to attain high On Time Delivery results and low error rates.
- Experience working on commercial, institutional, or multi-family residential projects is a plus.
- LEED accreditation or knowledge of sustainable design practices is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes. Lead a team of 4 – 6 Designers.
Work Environment: In office. Remote schedules only if otherwise agreed to.
Physical Demands: Ability to walk a job site if required with proper use of PPE.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm unless otherwise agreed to with the Engineering Manager.
Travel: Minimal. Only to jobsites in the area. Occasional trip may be required to the Houston Office.
