THE OPPORTUNITY
The purpose of the Shipping Coordinator position is to ensure that all customer orders are scheduled, processed and shipped as per customer requirements. This position reports to the Director, Operations. As a member of the RS team, this position will support an organizational culture that cares for others' well-being through best practices in health and safety in addition to the company's values of respect, integrity, quality, teamwork and professional growth.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position is responsible for ensuring that RS schedules and ships its products accurately and on time. This includes:
- Review and process incoming sales orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop required Module Construction templates in alignment with the Order Preparation schedule to ensure shipments meet customer requirements.
- Create and maintain shipping schedules, including truck timing and load details.
- Ensure all required shipping and customs documentation is accurately prepared and completed for each shipment. (BOL's, Packing lists, Etc.)
- Coordinate transportation arrangements for all orders and communicate shipment timing to Supervisors, Order Preparation staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure schedules are executed efficiently and customer delivery commitments are consistently met.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers.
- Bid out loads to find competitive rates to ensure cost savings.
- Address all load issues once load has left facility and is enroute to customer.
- Provide delivery updates as required by Management or Customers.
WHAT YOU BRING
- High school diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel.
- Negotiation skills and ability to ensure competitive pricing.
- Import / Export knowledge is a plus.
- Experience in preparing various shipping documents (BOL's, Packing Lists, Etc.)
- Knowledge of maintaining shipping and/or logistics schedules.
- Basic understanding of ERP/MRP systems. (currently utilizing Epicor)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Plant environment
- Working outside may be required
- Some travel to vendors and other corporate facilities as required
- Work requires bending, sitting, stooping, climbing, walking and standing
- Overtime will be required as necessary
