Description
About the Company
Our client is an advanced manufacturing company operating in industries where quality, precision, reliability, and manufacturing performance are critical. The organization develops high-precision manufacturing solutions and operates in an environment where strong quality controls, continuous improvement, and close collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams are essential.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Product Reliability Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of its products and manufacturing processes.
This is a hands-on quality engineering role spanning process improvement, defect reduction, inspection optimization, customer quality, nonconformance management, root cause analysis, process validation, and quality planning.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze quality and production data, identify root causes, implement process controls, improve inspection strategies, and prevent recurring quality issues. You will also serve as a quality liaison for customers, supporting audits, addressing quality concerns, and preparing required quality deliverables.
The ideal candidate has hands-on quality experience in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable working across production, inspection, data analysis, customer engagement, and cross-functional problem solving.
What You'll Own
- Lead process improvement and defect reduction initiatives by analyzing quality and production data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Implement process controls and standardized inspection procedures to improve consistency, prevent recurring quality issues, and increase first-pass yield.
- Optimize inspection strategies using advanced tools and techniques, including CMM programming.
- Establish and maintain inspection criteria and acceptance standards aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Evaluate inspection capability using Gage R&R and Cpk analyses.
- Serve as a quality liaison for customers, managing audits, addressing quality concerns, and supporting timely issue resolution.
- Prepare and deliver customer quality documentation, including PPAP, FAIR, and other customer-specific deliverables.
- Work with customers to clarify quality requirements and maintain alignment on expectations and deliverables.
- Manage nonconformance activities, including root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
- Analyze nonconformance trends to reduce defect recurrence and drive targeted quality improvements.
- Monitor quality KPIs, including yield, defect rates, and on-time delivery.
- Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into quality performance and actionable insights.
- Develop and implement scalable quality control plans and support the deployment of new inspection technologies.
- Support process validation for new or modified manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into product and process development and support New Product Introductions (NPI).
- Mentor quality team members on inspection, data analysis, process control, and cross-functional problem solving.
What You'll Need
- Demonstrated experience with quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization within manufacturing environments.
- Experience implementing and managing PPAP, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Knowledge of advanced inspection methods and tools, including CMM programming, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality and production data, identify trends, and make data-informed decisions to improve yield and reduce defects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to present quality metrics, deliverables, and insights to stakeholders.
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export-control requirements.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a quality-focused role.
- Experience in regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, or defense.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
- Hands-on experience with PPAP documentation and customer engagement for quality deliverables.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Cpk/process capability analysis.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.
