Application Engineer

We’re looking for an Application Engineer (Proposal Manager) to help lead Mission Critical Team proposals from the initial bid review through submission and award handoff. In this hands-on role, you’ll coordinate proposal activity, keep documents clear and accurate, and help ensure scope, estimates, schedules, and customer requirements are aligned. You’ll partner closely with functional owners, Procurement, and leadership while keeping clear ownership in place: technical scope and estimates stay with the assigned functional owners, supplier engagement is led by Procurement, and subcontractor selection, final pricing, margin, and contractual commitments require the appropriate approvals.

You will:

• Lead multiple assigned proposals by setting input owners, due dates, review milestones, and submission plans with cross-functional teams.
• Review customer bid documents, requests for quotation or proposal, and addenda to confirm deliverables, instructions, deadlines, schedules, and missing inputs.
• Review commercial requirements, flag risks or exceptions, and coordinate documented decisions with Business Development, Finance, Legal, and leadership before submission.
• Coordinate preliminary project schedules and estimate assumptions with Application Engineering, Project Management, and other functional partners.
• Partner with the Estimate Lead and functional owners to assemble estimate inputs and confirm proposal pricing reflects the approved estimate.
• Create clear, customer-ready proposals using approved templates, reviewed technical inputs, and complete details on scope, pricing, assumptions, and responsibilities.
• Coordinate material and subcontractor quote needs through Procurement, keeping due dates, clarifications, and document updates aligned with the proposal schedule.
• Identify gaps between scope, estimate, schedule, and assumptions; work with owners to resolve issues and escalate impacts early.
• Coordinate proposal reviews, track action items, and confirm pricing, margin, and commercial approvals are documented before release.
• Maintain accurate proposal status, revision control, templates, and content libraries while helping improve approved tools and automation.
• Support approved submissions, customer clarifications, and award handoffs with Business Development, including final proposal details, commitments, risks, and open actions.

You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of Industrial Automation experience directly related to design, controls, programming, and electrical engineering
• Extensive experience using Company methods, tools, and processes specific to estimating and proposal management standards.
• Proficiency in MS Excel 
• MS Project Experience is a plus
• Understanding of ERP / Project Costing Systems and parametric estimation tools.
• Extensive understanding of customer plans, specifications, technical documentation as well as RFP/RFQ documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
