Sr Data Engineer- Chennai - Assistant Vice President

We are seeking a highly experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer (AVP - C12) with 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting large-scale enterprise applications. The candidate will play a key role in delivering high-performance database solutions, driving technical excellence, collaborating with business stakeholders, and leading critical initiatives across the application development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in Oracle Database technologies, SQL/PLSQL development, performance tuning, data engineering, production support, and solution design within a fast-paced financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Solution Design

• Design, develop, and maintain complex Oracle database applications using SQL and PL/SQL.
• Develop and enhance stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and materialized views.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture, technical design, and code review discussions.
• Develop reusable frameworks and components to improve development productivity.

Database Performance & Optimization

• Optimize complex SQL queries and PL/SQL code for maximum performance and scalability.
• Analyze execution plans and implement indexing, partitioning, and query optimization strategies.
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks.
• Perform root cause analysis for performance-related issues and implement corrective actions.

Data Processing & Integration

• Design and support high-volume batch processing and data integration solutions.
• Work with large datasets and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
• Support ETL processes, data migrations, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with upstream and downstream application teams for seamless integrations.

Production Support & Stability

• Provide L3 production support for mission-critical applications.
• Troubleshoot complex application and database issues within SLA timelines.
• Perform impact assessments, incident management, and problem management activities.
• Ensure high availability and operational stability of applications.

Leadership & Governance

• Lead development efforts for strategic projects and regulatory initiatives.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical guidance.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to organizational technical strategy.
• Collaborate with global teams across multiple regions and time zones.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage with business users, product owners, analysts, and technology partners.
• Communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide project status updates, risk assessments, and implementation recommendations.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale database applications.
• Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, Capital Markets, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.

Technical Skills

Oracle Database Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database 12c/19c and above.
• Advanced knowledge of:
  • SQL
  • PL/SQL

Performance Tuning

• Query optimization and SQL tuning.
• AWR, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF analysis.
• Execution Plan analysis.
• Indexing strategies.
• Table partitioning.
• Database performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Data & Integration

• Data modeling concepts.
• ETL and data warehousing exposure.
• Data migration and reconciliation processes.
• Experience handling high-volume transaction systems.

Tools & Technologies

• Unix/Linux environment.
• Shell scripting.
• Git, Bitbucket, SVN.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
