Senior Corporate Counsel

Summary of This Role

Supports the Company’s mission to become the industry’s leading choice for payment solutions by providing consultative advice and service through the management of the legal business matters of the organization, including, but not limited to, the organization's government and regulatory compliance, data privacy, risk mitigation, intellectual property, and vendor and client agreements. The legal team aligns and collaborates with customer-facing teams, operational teams, and other corporate support groups to deliver on the Company’s mission of solutions and growth, and ensure delivery is legally compliant while also minimizing risk to the enterprise.

What Part Will You Play?

• Participates as part of an effective legal team in support of the company, its various operating segments, and its affiliated companies (as assigned from time to time). Assists in ensuring the legal needs of the company are addressed.
• Provides legal expertise and serves as an advisor to the company in support of its strategy, business and legal needs.
• Reviews, analyzes, drafts and negotiates legal documents and manages the legal aspect of agreements and contract negotiations with partners, clients and vendors. Provides counsel to internal clients regarding same. Maintains and updates standard agreement templates to maintain currency with compliance requirements, industry changes and identified risk.
• Reviews and advises on new products and services to help ensure organizational readiness, as well as compliance with laws, regulatory schemes, and contractual commitments. Participates in design and project management meetings to ensure legal concerns are addressed. Drafts new agreements and amendments to existing agreements in support of an operational readiness plan.

What Are We Looking For in This Role?

Minimum Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree - from an accredited law school (including all other necessary prerequisites for gaining licensure to practice law) and maintaining qualifications and licensure throughout employment.
• Typically a minimum of 10 years relevant professional experience including a minimum of 5-6 years experience in a managerial position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Transactional legal experience.
• Experience in financial industry or payments industry.
• Demonstrated client service skills, ability to manage multiple projects and effective business counseling and negotiation skills.
• Management experience, including managing other lawyers and support staff.
