Contracts and Commercial Intern

## What you’ll do:

Contract Management & New Business

•Order administration - Reviewing and loading orders and providing system updates to the customer.

•Supporting on the interpretation and enforcement of contractual and commercial obligations and identifying opportunities to leverage contractual terms in support of business objectives and submitting contractual claims

•Provide support to new business opportunities in accordance with the Contracts Policy, including the review of T&Cs and commercial aspects of the bid, obtaining approvals, proposal drafting, negotiation, purchase order review and acceptance.

•Supporting on the drafting, negotiation and execution of customer, liaising internal teams to understand requirements and design intelligent solutions.

•Supporting customer-facing contracts team including the provision of end-to-end contractual support to substantial new business opportunities where they arise, supporting the bid manager, and advising on contracts and commercial issues as part of proposal Gate reviews and sign off any bids IAW the delegation of authority.

•Ensuring that existing contracts are proactively and robustly managed, contractual changes are identified and the contractual financial baseline is protected.

•Identifying and monitoring commercial risks and proposing mitigations.

•Managing and developing relationships with internal and external customers.

•Analysing and advising on customer claims in support of business objectives, and managing related communications

Compliance and Governance

•Implementing and ensuring adherence to C&C policies & procedures

•Managing the engagement of intermediaries in compliance with Company Policies.

•Protecting confidential information by ensuring NDAs are obtained in line with company policy.

•Supporting the business with respect to trade compliance issues.

•Supporting C&C functional initiatives, including training and continuous improvement.

## Skills:

•Ambitious with a desire to develop and apply commercial, legal and financial principles in a complex business environment

•Contract law knowledge, analysis, application and drafting

•Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to manage contentious issues with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner

•Diligent and logical approach to managing multiple tasks and deadlines with good attention to detail

Essential

•Excellent academic or degree or equivalent experience in law/business.

•IT Literate – excellent writing and formatting skills, proficient manipulator of data in Excel

Desirable

•Experience in a defence contracting environment involving UK MoD and US DoD conditions

•Experience in working in multi-disciplined project teams

•Experience in assessing the impact of contractual and commercial issues on the business and presenting a considered view on strategy for negotiation and resolution
