Head of Commercial
3‑month initial contract – start ASAP
(day rate in £495)
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
1–2 days per week onsite / Hybrid working

You’ll step into a pivotal senior leadership role as the Head of Commercial, taking responsibility for driving excellence across contracts, property and planning. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary legal team, oversee high‑value commercial work, and act as a critical adviser on strategic projects. This is a role with real influence—shaping major decisions, supporting corporate objectives, and ensuring high‑performing commercial governance. Your Role as Head of Commercial:
•Lead and oversee commercial contracts, property, and planning legal work
•Provide expert senior advice on complex commercial, planning and property matters
•Manage and supervise a team of contract, property and planning lawyers
•Drive key corporate programmes, ensuring legal risk is effectively managed
•Contribute at senior level, deputising and representing the service at high‑level meetings
Your Previous Experience as Head of Commercial:
•Extensive background in commercial contracts, property and planning legal work
•Experience managing and developing legal or commercial teams
•Strong ability to operate at senior leadership level, influencing major decisions
•Proven track record delivering complex, high‑value commercial advice
•Significant experience within a public sector or Local Authority setting
