Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Tumor Registrar, you will play a vital role in our oncology department by organizing and maintaining a robust cancer patient data system. You will ensure that all records adhere to stringent ACOS standards while meeting the critical data requirements of the Kentucky Cancer Program, ultimately contributing to high-quality patient care and research outcomes.

 

Every day you will perform essential cancer registry operations, including data entry and the thorough examination of medical and pathology records to determine patient eligibility for our database. You will be responsible for efficiently and accurately abstracting complex cancer data from medical records, as well as collecting, calculating, and analyzing numerical data related to cancer occurrence, case management, and clinical outcome measures.

 

To be successful in this role, you will hold an Associate of Science degree or equivalent education and possess experience in medical coding or transcription. You must be prepared to obtain your Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within 24 months of hire and demonstrate proficiency in cancer registry software and basic computer skills. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can effectively analyze data, manage work assignments, and maintain professional communication standards within a collaborative clinical environment.

  • Associates Of Science or equivalent education as required to sit for certification and Experience in coding or transcription, upon hire

Where You’ll Work

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
