Job Summary:
Under the direction from the Compliance Officer, the Compliance Assistant's duties are to assist in the monitoring and implementation of F&M Bank's Compliance Management Program.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists departments with regulatory compliance questions.
- Prepares reports as necessary in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assists with the implementation of policies, procedures, and processes.
- Performs regulatory compliance monitoring, including but not limited to the bank's deposit and loan operations.
- Prepares periodic reporting of compliance monitoring results and follow-up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Maintains and oversees online compliance training
- Participates in special projects.
- Attends various committee meetings as needed and provides compliance related feedback
- Continuously looks for opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline processes
Additional Functions:
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use specialized software.
- Knowledge of banking policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with required loan documentation, included but not limited to consumer, installment, commercial, and real estate loans.
- Familiarity with required deposit documentation, included but not limited to consumer and business new account documents
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills; the ability to effectively communicate orally , and in writing
- Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Word and Excel required
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to recognize issues that need additional review
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task
Physical Requirements:
- This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Frequent lifting (up to 25 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).
- Ability to drive (travel) to other locations
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment.
