  • Read and interpret:

  • Mechanical construction drawings and details

  • Equipment schedules and submittals

  • Piping diagrams

  • Manufacturer installation instructions

  • Project specifications

  • Lay out equipment and piping installations in the field.

  • Identify potential conflicts, deficiencies, or installation issues and communicate them to the Foreman or Superintendent before proceeding.

  • Verify equipment installation, piping, electrical connections, controls connections, filters, belts, drains, and other components are ready for startup.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting during installation and startup.

  • Complete assigned work in accordance with project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and company quality standards.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all company, OSHA, general contractor, and project-specific safety requirements.

  • Properly use personal protective equipment and fall-protection equipment at all times while performing duties.

  • Safely use ladders, lifts, power tools, torches, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, nitrogen regulators, and other HVAC installation equipment.

  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and jobsite safety meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Journeyman level HVAC installation or mechanical construction experience.

  • Advanced working knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and installation practices.

  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic trade calculations.

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical construction drawings.

  • Experience installing various types of mechanical piping systems, such as brazed or pressed copper, welded or grooved carbon steel, PVC, HDPE, and stainless steel.

  • Ability to use common HVAC and construction tools safely.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with Foremen, Superintendents, project management, and other trades.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of commercial HVAC installation experience.

  • EPA Section 608 Universal certification.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • Experience with VRF/VRV systems, such as City-Multi and Multi-V

  • Experience installing large commercial split systems and packaged equipment.

  • Experience with hydronic HVAC systems and components such as chillers, boilers, pumps, and condensing towers.

  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC controls and BAS systems.

  • Experience with equipment startup and commissioning.

  • Experience working on large commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, government, and similar construction projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment commonly associated with the HVAC trade.

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Work in mechanical rooms, equipment yards, rooftops, and other construction environments.

  • Work at elevated heights using appropriate fall-protection equipment.

  • Perform physically demanding construction activities throughout the workday.

  • Travel to project locations as required.

What We Look For

We value technicians who:

  • Take pride in craftsmanship.

  • Understand that quality matters even when work will eventually be concealed.

  • Think ahead before installing piping or equipment.

  • Communicate problems rather than covering them up.

  • Work safely without needing constant supervision.

  • Are willing to learn new equipment and installation methods.

  • Want to develop their skills and advance within the commercial mechanical trade.
