Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to lead a team of subject matter experts in marine, electrical, control & automation engineering to support delivery of Shipping strategy.

The role holder needs to provide engineering leadership, set the requirements for engineering activities and provide discipline expertise for projects in the oil and gas space.

Key focus areas include developing strategy for inspection, test and maintenance, and delivering this through systems and tools to assure operational integrity and availability. Other focus areas include cyber risk management for OT systems and managing obsolescence for the operated assets.

The team needs to keep abreast of future fuels and engine technology developments and provide market intelligence and business input in use of future fuels and propulsion systems for time charter vessels.

The role holder needs to engage actively with all key stakeholders across ST&S and wider BP business to enable strong delivery through collaborative working.

Key Accountabilities:

• As the delegated inspection authority (IA), accountable for developing the maintenance strategy and managing inspection, test and maintenance requirements to ensure fleet reliability and availability, balancing risk and value.
• As the delegated single point accountability (SPA) manage and deliver the cyber risk management for OT systems in the operated fleet.
• Maintain bp shipping Engineering discipline delivery by setting requirements in line with regulatory and relevant bp requirements to deliver pragmatic risk management and commercial value.
• Manage the obsolescence of operated assets and accountable for managing the modification system to enable engineering and equipment changes.
• Provide subject matter expertise to infrastructure focused oil and gas projects.
• Working with key stakeholders, provide input and support to BoG management for the LNG business.
• Engage with OEM and other industry stakeholders to provide market intelligence and input in the use of future fuels and selection of propulsion systems for the OTC fleet.
• Act as contract accountable manager (CAM) and manage the discipline focused contracts and enable cyber risk management with vendors.
• Accountable to carry out operational assurance of bp Marine owned barges.
• Develop and deliver discipline specific projects for improving vessel operations and increasing operational efficiency.
• Develop and manage Opex and project budgets for the various disciplines in support of OTC fleet activities.
• Represent BP Shipping in industry and bp’s internal engineering forums as per the approved representation list.

Essential Experience /Job Requirements

• Class 1 certificate of competency / Electrical engineering maritime competency / Equivalent Degree or professional qualification
• Experienced in oil and gas tanker operations as a senior sea going marine or electrical engineer.
• Experienced in risk management and maintenance systems.
• Experienced in project management.
• Able to communicate technical information in simple language to non-technical audience

Additional, desirable criteria:

• Experience in engineering leadership role in office environment.
• Chartered Engineer
• Experienced in OT cyber risk management
