The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the purchasing of non-managed vendor materials and the planning of all relevant materials for assigned area locations. Planning includes working with branch managers to forecast and adjust inventory settings, transferring material from one branch to another, creating inventory related reports and disseminating to branches, and other replenishment duties as necessary.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all pumps, VFDs, automation components, motors, barrels, skids, controls, electrical equipment, spare parts, and consumables.
- Perform routine cycle counts and coordinate annual physical inventory counts.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and establish minimum/maximum stocking levels.
- Identify obsolete, damaged, or slow-moving inventory and recommend disposition.
- Ensure all incoming materials are properly inspected, labeled, and entered into inventory.
- Maintain organized warehouse locations using barcode or bin location systems.
- Optimize warehouse layout for improved efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and housekeeping practices.
- Work with Procurement to forecast inventory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining proper stock levels based on service demand and historical usage.
- Coordinate returns, warranty items, and vendor discrepancies.
- Coordinate material staging for field service projects.
- Verify materials issued to technicians are properly documented.
- Assist with emergency material requests and expedited shipments.
- Track serialized equipment including VFDs, motors, pumps, and automation equipment.
- Develop and improve inventory procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor inventory turnover and carrying costs.
- Reduce inventory shrinkage through accountability and process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory adjustments and transfers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of inventory or warehouse management experience.
- Experience in industrial, oil & gas, electrical, automation, or pump service industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification (preferred).
- Valid driver's license.
