Position Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent; higher education and/or workers compensation claim’s support experience is beneficial.
- Proficient knowledge of computers with ability to work with various computer programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook & Adobe.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard with accuracy is required.
- Highly developed organizational skills with ability to establish priorities and respond accordingly in a fast-paced environment.
- Mathematical aptitude.
- Critical thinker who can independently problem solve and make suggestions to the team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. The applicant is expected to interact with internal and external customers with tact and respect in a timely fashion.
- Ability to successfully work as a member of a team providing clerical support to workers compensation claims adjusters.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Ensures optimum performance in this position by gaining full knowledge of all Claims Assistant functions.
- Recommends and implements techniques to increase department productivity, efficiency and cut costs; takes advantage of opportunities to improve procedures and strives for high-quality service.
- Develops and maintains an image of corporate excellence using teamwork with an emphasis on professional and credible customer service - positive customer relations to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Gains basic knowledge of department errors and omissions exposures and E & O procedures.
- Continually strives to improve and upgrade skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to multitask and pay close attention to details in order to produce accurate, high quality work requested by claims adjusters and/or management in a timely fashion.
- Team player who can effectively work under pressure in a fast-paced environment independently handling a variety of tasks supporting the entire Claim’s team. Most work is performed in an electronic claims system. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, managing daily mail, paying bills, issuing checks, setting up claim files, preparing & distributing forms, handling phone calls and copying files.
- Solid understanding of the Claims System and ability to independently work in it for a variety of reasons that may involve supporting the adjuster or customers as well as running various reports as required.
- If there is a suspected service issue, notify the Support Supervisor and/or Claims Manager promptly.
Compensation: The hourly range for this role is $18-$25. Actual compensation will be based on factors including location, skills, experience, and internal equity.
