Under general supervision, is responsible for overseeing motor vehicle registration fee collection fees and property tax; assigns mail; counts and issues cash boxes; orders and issues change; issues supplies to staff; updates unused motor vehicle inventory.Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the timely completion and accuracy of all motor vehicle registration collection fees and property tax collections
Assigns daily mail to Title and Registration Processor II’s and Title and Registration Processor I’s
Counts and issues daily cash boxes
Orders, verifies and issues change for daily cash boxes
Approves and issues supplies such as motor vehicle registration sticker books and license plates to Tax Office staff, franchise dealers, grocery stores and municipalities
Responds to questions and complaints regarding section operations
Receives purchase receipts and unused motor inventory from franchise dealers, grocery stores and municipalities and updates Tax Office inventory records in computer
Provides functional oversight and supervision over Title and Registration Processor II’s and Title and Registration Processor I’s
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three years office experience in a cash collections environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good knowledge of motor vehicle title and registration and property tax collection procedures and processes.
Skill in supervising cash collection employees; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations; skill in operating personal computer, 10-key adding machine, typewriter and basic office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to organize, compile and record information accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, other County employees, outside organizations and the general public.
Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Working conditions are inside an office environment
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionally
Occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment. Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Positions self to perform essential functions
Subject to sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending to perform the essential functions
