Description
Hiring a Chief Executive Officer. Full time, Monday-Friday, day hours, exempt status. Position is a fully on-site position, located in Ida Grove, Iowa.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) oversees and directs all functions and best practices of the hospital in compliance with regulatory guidelines. The CEO provides leadership and strategic direction for the hospital, ensuring the organization delivers high-quality, safe, accessible, and financially sustainable healthcare services. The CEO works closely with the board of directors, medical staff, executive leadership team, employees, patients, and community partners to advance the hospital's mission and long-term goals.
The CEO is a member of the Horn Memorial Hospital (HMH) Executive Team and collaborates in decision-making, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of HMH.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Promotes the mission of Horn Memorial Hospital.
Provides strategic and operational leadership for the hospital and clinics.
Leads and evaluates the Executive and Leadership team, including oversight of Buildings and Grounds Director, Environmental Services Director, Dietary Director and Marketing Director.
Maintains strong relationships with physicians, clinical staff, employees, patients, community organizations, government agencies, and other healthcare partners.
Promotes and supports the Compliance Program in effort to comply with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, accreditation requirements, and ethical standards
Works with the medical staff and clinical leadership to support evidence-based, high-quality patient care.
Provides strong communication across all levels of the organization.
Maintains effective communication with the board of directors and provide regular reports on organizational performance and major risks.
Monitors key organizational performance indicators, including quality, patient satisfaction, employee engagement, financial results, access, and operational efficiency.
Represents the hospital within the community and serve as a primary spokesperson when appropriate.
Lead the negotiation, execution, and oversight of contracts and agreements with physicians, medical providers, vendors, service providers, healthcare partners, and other external organizations, ensuring terms align with the hospital's strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory objectives.
Negotiates transfer agreements with other health facilities.
Evaluate capital investments and strategic growth opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or a related field preferred.
Experience and Job Knowledge:
At least 10 years of healthcare experience required, with at least 5 of those years being in a management role required.
Experience in acute, rural/Critical Access Hospital preferred.
Significant senior-level leadership experience in healthcare or a related complex organization.
Experience managing budgets, operations, personnel, and organizational strategy.
Strong understanding of hospital operations, healthcare finance, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians, clinical professionals, boards, employees, and community stakeholders.
Excellent communication, negotiation, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
Experience leading organizational change and large-scale strategic initiatives.
