A Day in the Life

Are you ready to take the next step in your Medtronic career? We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as an Operations Quality Director. In this critical role, you will lead operations quality, receiving inspection, and laboratory functions that support the production of batteries, capacitors, feedthroughs, connectors, and therapy delivery components at the Medtronic Energy and Components Center.

In this role, you will develop and execute long-term strategies to reduce quality and compliance risk in manufacturing, while ensuring the organization remains aligned with MECC’s Quality Management System and regulatory expectations. This role also plays a key part in driving continuous improvement, developing talent, and fostering a culture rooted in the Medtronic Mindset, Put Patients First, and the Medtronic Performance System.

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Leadership & Quality Culture: Lead manufacturing operations toward excellence in product quality, compliance, and operational performance. Build a culture that puts patients first, reinforces accountability, and embeds quality into every part of the operation. 
  • Talent Development: Develop, coach, and mentor managers, engineers, and quality professionals to strengthen capability and support career growth. Create and implement training and development plans that build organizational depth and readiness for the future. 
  • Inspection Readiness: Ensure manufacturing operations are inspection-ready every day by maintaining rigorous quality standards and documentation practices. Implement robust quality control processes and regular inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Strategic Partnership: Partner cross-functionally with Global Operations & Supply Chain,  Supplier Quality, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and other functions to drive quality and enterprise operations objectives. 
  • Quality Management: Oversee quality systems, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Provide expertise in interpreting policies, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance and operational consistency. 
  • Audit Leadership: Lead audit and inspection preparation, manage findings to closure, and share best practices across functions and sites 
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive root cause analysis, corrective action, and organizational learning to address complex quality issues. Build a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, implementing sustainable solutions, and sharing lessons learned. 


Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant Manufacturing, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Quality Engineering experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, OR Advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Manufacturing, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Quality Engineering experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in Medical, Pharmaceutical or highly regulated product industry. 
  • DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification and demonstrated experience leading DMAIC Projects. 
  • Experience in multiple Quality related functions. 
  • Highly results oriented and focused on business priorities. 
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to drive results in a highly matrixed organization. 
  • Strong Business and Quality perspective. 
  • Strong change management and transformation skills. 
  • Excellent Communication/Presentation Skills. 
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Talent Management skills. 

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$198,400.00 - $297,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
