Research Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to join our Equity Research team at RHB Investment Banking. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking and maintaining research coverage on assigned stocks and sectors, generating investment ideas, and providing timely market insights to institutional clients. You will work closely with senior research leaders, corporate management teams, and clients while contributing to the development of RHB’s research franchise and regional research initiatives. 

What you will be doing

• Undertake and maintain research coverage on assigned stocks and sectors.
• Actively monitor micro and macroeconomic developments affecting covered companies and industries.
• Conduct regular company visits, management meetings, and industry engagements to gather insights and assess sector developments.
• Generate investment ideas on sectors and stocks, including identifying trading and sales opportunities.
• Prepare and publish high-quality research reports and investment recommendations in a timely manner.
• Provide clients with regular updates on key developments, market trends, and earnings outlooks within covered sectors.
• Assist in the production and coordination of research publications and corporate-client engagement events, including non-deal roadshows (NDRs), conferences, and investor meetings.
• Support the achievement of Equity Research team objectives, including internal client votes and external analyst rankings.
• Accompany the Head of Research or Head, Regional Sector on marketing roadshows and client servicing activities in Malaysia and overseas markets, as assigned.
• Present and market investment ideas to institutional clients.
• Collaborate closely with regional research teams and contribute to cross-border sector coverage initiatives.
• Lead or participate in research projects involving analysts across the region, subject to experience and performance.
• Foster teamwork and contribute to delivering a coherent, high-quality research product.
• Work closely with senior management and research leadership to strengthen RHB’s research brand and market presence.
• Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related disciplines.
• Relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, fund management, corporate finance, or financial analysis.
• Strong interest in equity markets, investment research, and sector analysis.
• Excellent financial modelling, analytical, and valuation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and insightful research reports.
• Ability to interpret financial statements, industry data, and economic trends.
• Strong presentation and client engagement skills.
• Highly driven, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Team player with the ability to collaborate across functions and regional teams.
• Knowledge of capital markets regulations and industry best practices will be an added advantage.
