Corporate Legal, Risk, Compliance and Government Affairs Team

Location: Reston VA (Effective Jan 2027)

At Mobility Global, our mission is to provide the trusted information that helps billions of people build, sell, and own vehicles with confidence. As we shape the next generation of automotive intelligence through innovation, AI, and industry-leading data, we're creating new opportunities for our customers, our business, and our people.

S&P Global Mobility is Mobility Global — the company behind CARFAX, automotiveMastermind, Market Scan, and Polk Automotive Solutions. Our strength comes from our people, and here, the progress you make helps the entire automotive ecosystem move faster and with greater confidence.

Join a best-in-class global Legal, Risk, Compliance & Government Affairs team committed to delivering timely, practical and actionable advice to advance our business and safeguard our reputation, people, and assets. We value professionalism, responsiveness, and a solution-oriented mindset in a fast-moving environment.

This position reports directly to the EVP, Chief Legal Officer, and will be a core member of the function’s leadership team.  This leader will play a critical role in developing a global strategy and operating model for the company’s centralized and matrixed Government Affairs team, taking into consideration the present team footprint and business needs in an increasingly dynamic regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities and Impact:

The Head of Government Affairs will build, lead and execute Mobility’s government relations and public policy strategy, establishing an international practice (predominantly Europe and Canada, but potentially also APAC) and continuation and further development of federal engagement in the Americas. This leader will serve as a representative to policymakers, regulators, and influential stakeholders, driving advocacy initiatives and data enablement that advance our business objectives, ensure regulatory compliance, and shape the external environment in alignment with our mission and values. Your work will be closely coordinated with your government relations and other colleagues across the business teams.

What's in it for you:

  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, client-facing environment

  • Partner closely with colleagues across the business and Mobility senior leadership

  • Advise on business transformation and growth initiatives, as well as near- and long-term growth opportunities

  • Serve as a business-oriented, senior advisor and core member of the function’s leadership team, counseling on issues of significant importance to the Company

  • Identify opportunities for leaders to provide thought leadership to, and build relationships with, key government officials, trade groups and other key industry stakeholders and influencers

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Architect and execute a multi-year global government affairs strategy and regulatory advocacy roadmap aligned with corporate objectives, growth targets, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on legislative developments, policy trends, and advocacy efforts.

  • Ensure policy positions and messaging are consistent across markets.

Legislative & Regulatory Engagement & Policy Tracking

  • Monitor, synthesize, and communicate relevant policy changes, laws, and regulations affecting the Company, providing actionable guidance to the business and senior leadership.

  • Collaborate with internal legal and regulatory teams to evaluate business implications.

  • Draft policy briefs, testimony, and other advocacy materials.

Advocacy & Representation

  • Represent the Company before legislators, regulators, industry forums, and government stakeholders.

  • Lead engagement with bill sponsors, committee staff, and agency officials to advance the Company’s policy objectives.

  • Engage with European, Canadian provincial agency officials to facilitate access to government or public data.

  • Manage external consultants, lobbyists, and industry coalitions.

Coalition & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with regulators, elected officials, industry partners, trade associations, and other influential stakeholders to advance the Company’s interests.

  • Partner with legal, compliance, strategy, marketing, and business teams to address government affairs matters and support go-to-market initiatives.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure compliance with lobbying, reporting, and political contribution requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate regulatory and geopolitical risks.

Communications & Issues Management

  • Serve as a spokesperson on government affairs matters.

  • Develop clear, persuasive messaging for policymakers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.

  • Provide timely analysis of emerging issues and geopolitical trends.

  • Support crisis response efforts in coordination with legal and senior leadership.

Operational & Budget Oversight

  • Experience managing external advisors, budgets, and PAC activities with accountability and fiscal discipline.

  • Identify and map relationships and touchpoints; develop a centralized view and strategy for future engagement and tracking.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, or related field preferred.

  • 12+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles; Capitol Hill, EU Commission or comparable corporate experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of global regulatory frameworks and automotive/mobility, data and technology‑related policy issues.

  • Strong track record of leadership handling legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives from conception through completion in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated success working constructively across the political spectrum to advance corporate interests regardless of changes in congressional control or administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute advocacy strategies and to work effectively with senior executives, policymakers, and industry leaders.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex information concisely and facilitate discussions with senior leaders and external stakeholders.

  • Proven capability to manage high-volume, complex environments with sound judgment and adaptability.

  • Fosters inclusivity to achieve optimal business outcomes. Able to effectively pivot direction and delegate responsibilities, utilizing team strengths to meet strategic initiatives.

  • Exceptional business judgment and issue identification skills, coupled with strong problem-solving abilities. Adept at articulating business needs, challenging existing systems and processes, and defining actionable strategies. Actively seeks input from diverse sources to ensure engagement and influence stakeholder buy-in at all levels.

  • Operates autonomously while also being a collaborative team player who brings a positive, “can do” attitude to the workplace. Works effectively with other members of the team, internal clients, and cross-functional organizations to influence and develop strategic initiatives.

  • Able to effectively manage risks and make decisions that minimize threats while maximizing opportunities.

Highest level of professional ethics, personal integrity, and discretion, especially when handling sensitive corporate matters and compliance obligations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful track record of in-house or similar advisory experience.

  • Exceptional academic credentials.

  • Experience with change management.

  • Experience leading or supporting transformation initiatives or high-growth environments.
