Finance Officer

Our client, operating in the Shipping sector, is seeking to recruit a Finance Officer to join their team. The chosen candidate will assist the Finance and Insurance Manager and fulfil daily and monthly accounting duties.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing comprehensive accounting support to the Finance Department.
• Managing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of financial accounts.
• Investigating, tracking, and resolving discrepancies or issues related to accounting records and documentation.
• Assisting in month end closing procedures leading to trial balances.
• Operating in compliance with established accounting standards, internal procedures, and applicable legal requirements.
• Undertaking additional tasks or responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Finance Manager or their delegate.
• Coordinating with external auditors during audits and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
• Inputting key financial data into the accounting database accurately and maintaining proper documentation and vouchers in line with company policies and accounting standards.
• Adhering to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• An MQF Level 5 qualification, ideally at an advanced stage of a finance-related degree.
• Three years of work experience in a finance function.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
