Software Engineer II – C# / .NET Framework 

About the Role 

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our engineering team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and ongoing evolution of a Windows-based restaurant operations platform. 

This is a hands-on software engineering role suited to a mid-level developer with approximately 3–5 years of professional C# experience. The role involves working within an established, modular codebase that supports restaurant operations and integrates Windows services, web applications, APIs, databases, and other system components. 

The immediate focus is on maintaining and extending our existing C# / .NET Framework platform, resolving production issues, and delivering incremental product improvements. Over time, you will also contribute to the gradual modernization of the platform. 

What You’ll Do 

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software using C# and .NET Framework. 

• Deliver well-scoped product enhancements, technical improvements, and bug fixes. 

• Maintain and extend applications built with ASP.NET MVC 5 and Web API 2. 

• Develop and troubleshoot REST APIs and integrations with other platform components. 

• Work with SQL Server, including ADO.NET, stored procedures, and query troubleshooting. 

• Develop and maintain Windows Services and other Windows-hosted application components. 

• Troubleshoot issues across store-side agents, server components, APIs, databases, and system integrations. 

• Work with multithreaded and asynchronous application code and network-based communication. 

• Diagnose application and integration issues in development, test, and production environments. 

• Write and maintain focused automated unit tests. 

• Participate in code reviews and apply established engineering practices. 

• Work safely and effectively within a large, established codebase where changes may affect multiple interconnected components. 

• Contribute to technical improvements and the gradual modernization of the platform while continuing to support existing functionality. 

Required Qualifications 

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience using C#. 

• Strong practical experience with .NET Framework, particularly versions 4.5 through 4.7.2. 

• Experience with Visual Studio, MSBuild, and NuGet. 

• Experience developing or maintaining applications using ASP.NET MVC 5 and Web API 2. 

• Working knowledge of IIS, Web.config configuration, HTTP, and REST APIs. 

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including:  

• ADO.NET 

• stored procedures 

• SQL query troubleshooting 

• investigating application/database integration issues 

• Experience developing or supporting Windows Services. 

• Practical understanding of multithreading, asynchronous programming, and networking concepts. 

• Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications in production or production-like environments. 

• Experience using Git and working with established source-control and code-review practices. 

• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests. 

• Ability to understand, maintain, and incrementally improve an existing codebase rather than relying exclusively on greenfield development. 

Preferred Qualifications

• JWT-based authentication

• 32-bit Windows application deployments

What Success Looks Like 

As a Software Engineer II, you will be expected to become productive within an established platform, independently deliver appropriately scoped changes, and troubleshoot issues across multiple application components. 

You should be comfortable balancing new development with maintenance and production support. You will work with more senior engineers when addressing larger architectural or cross-component changes while taking ownership of features, defects, tests, and technical improvements within your area. 

This role is particularly well suited to an engineer who enjoys understanding how an existing system works, solving practical software problems, and improving a platform incrementally without assuming that every problem requires a complete rewrite.
