Description
An Australian financial services offshoring firm is seeking a Senior Finance Operations Analyst to join its finance operations hub. Reporting to the Finance Team Leader, this role drives daily cash positioning, complex high-volume cash-to-system reconciliations, end-to-end broker commission management, and internal control oversight for Australian financial operations. The ideal candidate brings strong financial services or non-bank lending experience, advanced Excel and automation skills, and a track record of coaching junior analysts while supporting group and trust audits.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily cash positioning and bank transfer execution across operating, trust, and fund accounts under strict dual-approval controls and delegated authority thresholds.
- Perform and review high-volume daily cash-to-system reconciliations, investigating and resolving breaks, aged items, unmatched receipts, and clearing exceptions.
- Own the end-to-end broker commission calculation lifecycle (upfront, trail, and clawback), ensuring mathematical accuracy, agreement compliance, and GL reconciliation.
- Act as the primary subject matter contact for brokers, distribution teams, and internal stakeholders on commission inquiries, rate tables, and calculation variances.
- Review daily deliverables and ledger postings prepared by Finance Operations Officers, providing technical guidance and on-the-job coaching.
- Serve as the main finance operations contact for group, trust, and regulatory audits, preparing audit schedules, working papers, and auditor query responses.
- Execute, evidence, and maintain key reconciliation and clearing controls to proactively identify operational risks, remediate control gaps, and enforce governance.
- Lead process optimization, automation initiatives (utilizing Power BI, Power Query, or VBA), and system testing across clearing, reconciliation, and commission workflows.
- Maintain comprehensive process documentation, standard operating procedures, and desk notes, providing backup coverage for the Finance Team Leader as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accountancy, or a business-related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of finance operations experience within non-bank lending, financial services, or an offshore/BPO environment.
- Proven track record in high-volume cash-to-system reconciliations, complex break resolution, broker commissions, and trust or fund accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, complex lookups, Power Query, macros) and familiarity with financial automation tools (SQL, Power BI, VBA, RPA).
- Hands-on experience supporting Australian entities and working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Prior exposure to loan management platforms, enterprise ERP/GL systems, and audit schedule preparations.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in reviewing work, coaching junior team members, and driving operational efficiency.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills with strong stakeholder management abilities.
