Role: Data Conversion, Migration and Cleansing Manager
The Data Conversion, Migration and Cleansing manager is a senior‑level role within the Finance Data Office (FDO) Data Management team. The role is accountable for leading large‑scale data cleansing, conversion, and migration activities to support enterprise ERP transformations across highly complex SAP landscapes, ensuring data readiness for SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA conversion through proactive remediation of legacy data ahead of extraction, load, and cutover.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead end‑to‑end data cleansing, conversion, and migration readiness for SAP ECC to S/4HANA programs in a large Oil & Gas enterprise
- Own pre‑conversion data assessment, profiling, remediation, and validation to ensure data is fit for migration into S/4
- Drive cleansing and conversion readiness across complex Procurement data domains, including:
- Supplier Master, Business Partner
- Purchasing data, Procurement Finance data, bank data
- Intercompany and site‑specific supplier structures
- Material Master data
- Apply deep Procurement domain knowledge to understand end‑to‑end business processes, data usage, and downstream impacts during migration
- Leverage good solid understanding of Finance and Material Management (MM) to manage cross‑domain dependencies and data integration risks
- Act as a Syniti subject‑matter lead, using the platform for data profiling, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, exception handling, and migration readiness reporting
- Define and drive cleansing and conversion strategy, scope, prioritisation, and sequencing aligned to migration waves and program achievements
- Partner closely with Technology and Migration teams on:
- Field mappings and transformation logic
- Mock loads, reconciliation cycles, defect analysis, and cutover planning
- Make informed, risk‑based decisions on what data must be cleansed in legacy ECC versus addressed through migration or transformation logic
- Operate confidently across highly fragmented and interdependent data landscapes, including multiple SAP ECC instances, SAP MDG, S/4HANA, and interfacing systems
- Anticipate and manage cross‑object, cross‑system, and cross‑process dependencies across Procurement, Finance, and MM domains
- Independently lead conversations with senior business and technology stakeholders, including Senior level leaders
- Be assertive, confident, and evidence‑based in challenging scope, timelines, sequencing, resourcing, and remediation decisions
- Translate complex data issues into clear business, financial, audit, and cutover risks, enabling timely leadership decisions
- Own and execute high‑volume mass data updates via SAP MDG, enforcing strict controls, approvals, and validations to protect data integrity in a complex ERP landscape.
- Personally lead and review data analysis, profiling, reconciliation, and root‑cause investigations
- Guide teams on where to focus cleansing effort for maximum conversion, business, and risk‑reduction impact
- Provide clear, fact‑based status reporting and escalation to senior forums
- Ensure appropriate documentation, approvals, traceability, and audit readiness throughout the conversion lifecycle
Essential Qualification and Experience:
- 13+ years’ experience in Data Management, Data Conversion, or ERP Data Migration roles
- Proven delivery of ECC → S/4HANA data conversion in large, complex organisations
- Deep Procurement domain expertise with solid understanding of supplier and purchasing data structures
- Good working knowledge of Finance and SAP Material Management (MM)
- Critical working knowledge of Syniti or other similar tools for data cleansing and migration
- Strong analytical approach with willingness to be hands‑on
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently with senior stakeholders and drive decision
