Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Genetic Counselor provides genetics assessment, diagnosis and counseling. This position serves our patients and families to assess individual or family risk for a variety of inherited genetic disorders, provides information to other healthcare providers or to individuals and families concerned with the risk of inherited conditions, advise individuals and families to support informed decision making and coping methods for those at risk, and also conduct research, educate, publish and perform administrative projects as discussed with their leadership team.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Arranges collection of blood or other samples for clinical genetic testing.
- Assist in the treatment of patients and families with known genetic disorders and of patients at risk for the development of genetic disorders.
- Develops and implements genetic counseling services.
- Provides education and counseling and interprets results for genetically influenced cancers.
- Reviews patient information, evaluates family history, conducts risk assessment and recommends medical or genetic testing.
- Serves as liaison between patients and their referring physician.
- Participates in research, publication, education, and administrative projects as scheduled and directed from leadership.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Genetics from an accredited College or University.
- High School Graduate
Required Licensure and Certification
- Genetics - American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) upon Hire
